Ultimate Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped mixed fresh herbs such as parsley, thyme and rosemary 125 mL
  • 2 tsp salt, Freshly ground pepper; to taste 10 mL
  • 4 Gourmet Canadian Beef AAA New York steaks, approx. 10 oz (300 g) each
  • Blistered Tomato Topping
  • 1 tbsp olive oil 15 mL
  • 1 pint (2 cups) Gourmet Medley Tomatoes, halved 500 mL
  • 1 clove garlic, sliced
  • 1/4 cup basil leaves, torn 60 mL
  • 1 1/2 tsp Sensations by Compliments Rosso Pesto 7 mL

Directions

  • Step 1

    Preheat the grill on high. In a small bowl, combine the garlic, herbs, salt and pepper. Pat the mixture on to both sides of the steaks. Grill the meat on medium high for 5 to 6 min. per side (depending on thickness) for medium rare.

  • Step 2

    Remove the steaks to a plate. Let the meat rest 5 to 10 min. before cutting in half and serving.

  • Step 3

    Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan until hot and shimmering. Add halved Gourmet Medley Tomatoes and toss over high heat for 2 min. Add 1 sliced clove of garlic, then torn basil leaves and pesto, and cook for 2 to 3 min. longer. Mix well and serve a spoonful on top of each steak.
