Classic Hummus Dip

Ingredients

  • 1 can chickpeas, drained 540 mL
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup olive oil 75 mL
  • 1/3 cup tahini (sesame seed butter) 75 mL
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice 45 mL
  • 1/2 tsp salt 2 mL
  • 1/4 tsp pepper 1 mL
  • Pinch paprika
  • Pita bread and vegetable sticks (celery, carrots, cucumbers) to serve

Directions

  • Step 1

    In processor, combine chickpeas and garlic. Purée 30 sec., or until coarse ground. Add tahini, olive oil, 1/4 cup (60 mL) water, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Purée until smooth. Transfer to small bowl. Sprinkle with paprika. Serve with pitas and vegetables.
